One of the most special pieces yet, and completely one-of-a-kind. Hand-built from a reclaimed vintage kantha quilt, this jacket glows in a warm brick-red ground scattered with tiny hand block-printed motifs in gold and green. A striking band of traditional hand block print — ornate green-and-mustard borders dotted with white blossoms — runs the length of the centre placket and frames the collar and pocket flaps, giving it a real heritage, artisan feel.
The showpiece sits on the back: a hand-embroidered patch worked in intricate cross-stitch — a geometric design in burgundy and gold, edged in turquoise — stitched on as a one-off finishing touch you won't find on any other jacket. This specific form of embroidery is an endangered art form, practised by only a few families in the Gujrat region. The whole piece is held together with the signature kantha running stitch, fine rows of tiny hand-sewn lines that quilt the layers into one soft, textured, gently puckered cloth. Subtle fading and small natural imperfections are part of the charm — the marks of a textile that has already lived one life and been reborn into another.
Cut boxy and relaxed for an easy, modern fit, it layers beautifully over a tee or knit. Finished with a full-length YKK metal zip, a relaxed camp collar, and two block-print-trimmed chest flap pockets fastened with natural coconut-shell buttons.
